Addictions are devastating, they destroy lives, families and futures. But there is hope! Freedom from addictive behavior is absolutely possible when you are ready to seek help. Detoxification is the first step towards finding this freedom
What is Detoxification?
Detoxification is the process of removing the addictive substance from the physical body. While it usually is not a life-threatening experience, uncomfortable physical systems can manifest in a variety of ways while the body is being weaned.
Some people may choose to “cold turkey” this process at home and allow the substance to work its way out of the system. Without support or a defined recovery plan, however, the chances of success are slim. The withdrawals in the detoxification process can be painful and overwhelming, thus triggering a relapse before true recovery begins. Quite simply, addictions are incredibly powerful and often require outside intervention.
Intervention
If an addiction has brought extremely damaging consequences to a person's life, including the loss of health, family, job and happiness, oftentimes an intervention is necessary. Denial is the driving factor that holds a person in bondage to an addiction. The purpose of an intervention is to confront that person in love, and offer an immediate solution to the problem.
A skilled certified interventionist will act as a liaison to help family and friends gather enough strength and courage to confront the addicted person in love. When done successfully, this usually leads to the commitment of a detoxification program followed by a long-term treatment plan. The success rate of an intervention is very high, and should be considered if the destruction of the addiction has reached a peak.
Where do I go from here?
If you are struggling with addiction, help is just a phone call away. A staff member is available 24-hours a day to assist in your questions and recommend treatment options both immediately and after the detoxification process has been completed. We work with a number of treatment facilities and transitional living homes in the area with the goal of implementing a long-term program that works for you. These options are quite diverse, and can be customized to meet a number of different needs. |
